Terms of Service
Last updated: draft, October 2026 · Operator: 213 Software [entity details TBD]
These draft terms describe how Puffin is intended to work and what we and our users will each be responsible for. “Puffin,” “we,” and “us” refer to the service operated by 213 Software [entity details TBD].
1. Who we are
Puffin is a payments service being developed by 213 Software [legal entity name, state of organization, and address TBD]. You can reach us at support@puffinpayments.com.
2. Pre-launch status
Puffin is not yet live. Any pilot will be offered to selected merchants under a separate written agreement. Nothing on this website is an offer to provide payment services, and features, pricing, and availability may change before launch.
3. What Puffin does
Puffin is designed to let shoppers pay merchants directly from a bank account over US instant payment networks, with each payment approved by the shopper in their own bank’s app. The final terms will describe which institutions move funds and Puffin’s role in each payment. [Details TBD.]
4. Eligibility and accounts
The final terms will explain who can use Puffin, the information merchants must provide to open an account (including identity and business verification), and how to keep account credentials secure.
5. Payments and finality
Instant payments generally settle with finality and cannot be reversed by the sender once completed. Shoppers should review the amount and recipient before approving. The final terms will describe how errors, unauthorized payments, and disputes are handled.
6. Merchant fees and payouts
The current proposed pricing is about 1% per payment with a 25¢ minimum and $10 cap, with daily automatic payouts and on-demand instant payouts. Final pricing, payout timing, and any limits will be set out in the merchant agreement.
7. Refunds
Refunds are issued by merchants, typically through the Puffin dashboard, and are governed by each merchant’s own return policy. Shoppers with refund questions should contact the merchant first.
8. Acceptable use
The final terms will list prohibited businesses and activities — for example, illegal goods or services, fraud, and anything that violates the rules of the payment networks or applicable law.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The final terms will include standard disclaimers and limits on liability. [Language TBD with counsel.]
10. Changes and termination
The final terms will explain how we notify you of changes and how you or we can close an account.
11. Governing law
[Governing law and dispute resolution TBD.]
